Northern Illinois Academy, an 87-bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility in Aurora, IL, serves youth ages 6-21 with major mental health and/or developmental disabilities.

Position Summary:
We have full time and on-call Residential Shift Supervisor openings available. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the overall program structure, safety and well-being of facility residents and staff during their shift, which includes maintaining the appropriate staff-resident ratios and supervising Residential Counselors, Team Leads and/or classroom staff. The Shift Supervisor also ensures follow-through of the established protocol and structure outlined by the facility and responds to crisis situations in accordance with NIA policies and procedures.

Job Duties:
• Monitors residential units/classrooms and conducts safety checks to ensure proper resident monitoring and safety protocol follow-through.
• Ensures that program activities are conducted as indicated on the schedule.
• Reviews incident reports, hold forms and other documentation for accuracy and completion.
• Ensures that staffing ratios are met during the shift and updates the staffing schedule for the next shift.
• Tracks and documents attendance.
• Completes the shift summary report and emails to appropriate individuals.
• Ensures that resident precautions are followed.
• Oversees resident outings and transports to ensure proper staffing, timeliness, form completion and resident meals and medication.
• Responds to crisis and emergent situations in accordance with policy and procedure.
• Conducts individual supervision and coaching sessions with staff as needed.
• Follows NIA protocol regarding medical emergencies, the clinical on-call procedure, allegations and staff injuries.
• Utilizes Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and UKERU skills and techniques as appropriate and according to training guidelines and NIA policy.
• Ensures staff communication and conducts meetings when necessary.
• Interacts with staff, residents, parents/guardians, regulatory/funding agencies and visitors in a positive, respectful and professional manner.
• Takes an interest and displays initiative in the development of the overall Group Living program.
Minimum Job Requirements
• Associates degree in a related field
• Two years of residential childcare experience
• Supervisory experience
