DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Program Overview

Capital Academy, located in Camden, NJ, is fully accredited as a Behavioral Health Care Organization by the Joint Commission and licensed by NJ DCF, Office of Licensing as a Residential Child Care Facility. The population served are male adolescents ages 14.5 - 20 upon admission who have severe emotional disturbances, have been a victim of neglect, sexual, physical or emotional abuse. Our students may have mental health, substance abuse or delinquent behavioral histories.

Position Overview

We have an immediate need for a full-time Director of Nursing to provide direct supervision of the medical department. This is a 40 hour per week position and the days worked are Monday – Friday from 9am-5pm. This schedule is flexible.

Job Duties Include (but not limited to):

• Overall supervision of the medical department

• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, State and JCAHO standards/regulations

• Work directly with the Medical Director (Psychiatrist) to provide medical management and assessment of the students

• Attend student treatment team meetings and other student meetings as deemed necessary

• Attend monthly Performance Improvement team meetings and bi-weekly Resource meetings

• Create and maintain a solid relationship with contracted outside medical vendors such as, pharmacies, hospitals, dental offices, etc.

• Coordinates scheduling with the medical team and shift supervisors for any outside medical procedures.

• Coordinate the weekly auditing of the student charts to insure compliance with outside regulators.

• Facilitate health education townhouses/trainings for students and staff on a variety of topics as needed.

• Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of care and modifies nursing components of the student’s treatment plan accordingly.

• Interview, hire and train nursing personnel. Plan, assign and direct work, appraise performance; reward and discipline staff, address complaints and work to resolve issues

• Effectively communicate with all department

• Maintain a sterile, safe and healthy work environment at all times.

Job Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN degree preferred

Current NJ State Registered Nurse License.

CPR certification.

CPR Trainer Certification preferred.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License in your residing state
• Two to three years of experience working in a residential setting preferred
• Psychiatric nursing experience is preferred
