Northern Illinois Academy, a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility in Aurora, IL, serves youth ages 6-21 who have major mental health and/or developmental disabilities. Our 87-bed facility is accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

We are looking to hire a Kitchen Supervisor who will be responsible for managing food service operations for our 87-bed facility. The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for food ordering, preparation, serving, safety, cleanliness, organization and food quality. The Kitchen Supervisor must be able to work effectively with limited supervision and demonstrate leadership in order to motivate others.

• This is a leadership position responsible for the development and operation of the team to support one of the most critical factors in our success – food quality
• Manage our food quality standards by consistently monitoring the temperature of hot food as well as insuring that our cold food is stored according to standards
• Responsible for food safety
• Perform basic repairs as needed to the kitchen equipment or seek the help of a maintenance person who can perform repairs
• Develop and cross train all team members
• Ensure a sense of urgency from all kitchen team members at all times
• Assign daily workstations and manage breaks
• Ensure cleanliness of kitchen and storage
• Insure consistent and accurate kitchen log records are kept
• Monitor/manage food waste daily
• Manage food cost
• Manage inventory rotation and product storage standards
• Create work schedule for staff
• Assist with staff recruitment, hiring and onboarding
• Evaluate kitchen staff and address performance issues
• Create food menus
• Create weekly food orders
• Follow the suggestions from Dietitian Nurse
• Report suspected abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation of residents as indicated in the policy and procedure manual.
• Adhere to the policy and practice concerning issues of creation, editing, transmission, storage and disposition of all Protected Health Information (PHI) of Sequel Youth & Family Youth Services
• Complete additional tasks as required


Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: Food Service experience required and supervisory experience preferred
Computer Skills: Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), able to use online food ordering system
Certificates & Licenses: Illinois Food Manager Certification
