Falcon Ridge Ranch is a licensed residential treatment center for girls age 12 to 18 who are experiencing emotional and behavioral problems but haven't thrived under the traditional care of outpatient treatment and require an out of home therapeutic setting. We offer hope, healing, and restoration through a unique blend of professional therapeutic services, academic instruction, and equine therapy. Our girls excel in a small, intimate and loving atmosphere where they get plenty of one-on-one support from youth mentors, therapists, teachers and professional staff. Falcon Ridge Ranch, is currently seeking to fill the position of Equine Specialist/Direct Care Staff.

We are looking for individuals to help support our students through their daily schedules which includes: Equine, Activities, Academics, Meal Times, and other regimen's that happen daily. You will provide non-classroom supervision and instruction to students on an individual or group basis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and educate students in a non-classroom setting
  • Be a role model and display care and concern for students
  • Design and implement activities for students
  • Provide close proximity and eyesight supervision of students
  • Establish goals and milestones with students
  • Document and communicate progress reports
  • Provide constructive feedback for students
  • Assist with care of resident horses, i.e. feeding and caring
  • Work as a Youth Mentor on the weekends
Professional tasks and duties:
  • Understand support program protocols related to student daily schedules, structures, and protocols.
  • Provide support to Equine Director and Clinical Staff in equine area.
  • Manage and maintain communication with each student’s therapist related to student needs and progress in equine.
  • Give feedback to supervisor-equine director of services related to professional needs and necessary feedback that could improve the efficiency in completing daily responsibilities.
  • Manage the completion of related appointment logs/paperwork to log student hours in equine.
  • Manage the health and other physical care of each horse.
  • Attend and participate in treatment team and daily team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with horses preferable teaching general horsemanship skills to youth.
  • Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, coaching or other related fields - Preferred
  • Ability to build rapport with students
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be knowledgeable of daily horse care
